Iliac bone graft process for implant in the lower jaw with excessive osteoporosis

My mother has no bone left in her lower jaw. Can the jaw bone be raised by removing bone from the hip?

In severely atrophic jaws, autogenous bone grafts (from the hip or from behind the jaw) are still the gold standard. The placed graft fuses fully with the jawbone within 4-6 months, creating a perfect bone bed for implants.

I was wondering the same question, and the detailed answer given by our doctor was very enlightening. Thanks.
