The elastic hook hurts my cheek during orthodontic treatment. Can I bend it inwards?

The rubber hook on my bracket protrudes slightly and gets caught on the inside of my cheek when I laugh. If I gently press it against the tooth with the back of the tweezers, will it break?

Do not force it yourself with pliers or tweezers, you may break the bracket body or dislodge the tooth! The easiest thing to do is to stick a lentil-sized amount of orthodontic wax on that hook. Tell your doctor at your appointment that he/she will bend it inward in 2 seconds with special forceps.
