Can the titanium plate and screws placed in mandible fracture surgery be removed afterwards?

I was hit while playing basketball and my lower jaw was broken, a mini titanium plate was placed. Can these plaques last a lifetime?

Titanium is the most compatible biomaterial with the body and can remain in place safely for a lifetime as long as it does not cause infection, loosening of screws or aching in cold weather. Removal is only necessary if there is a mechanical condition that disturbs the patient.
