How many sessions does the curettage (deep gum cleaning) procedure take and is there anesthesia?

My dentist said I had 5 mm pockets and needed curettage. Is it a painful procedure?

Since the procedure is performed under local anesthesia, you will not feel any pain. Generally, the mouth is divided into 4 quadrants and completed in 2 or 4 sessions. Infected granulation tissues under the gums are cleaned and the pockets narrow rapidly and the gum adheres tightly to the bone again.
