HI version

A biopsy was requested for the white bump on the cheek. Is it something to be afraid of?

My dentist said let's take a punch biopsy for the white lesion on my cheek mucosa and send it to pathology. I'm very worried.

Don't worry, biopsy of intraoral tissues is a routine diagnostic method and in more than 90% of cases, benign results such as simple traumatic lesions, leukoplakia or friction hyperkeratosis are revealed. Biopsy is the most reliable way to make a definitive diagnosis and determine the correct treatment.
