The reinforcement wire (lingual retainer) broke from the back, will the teeth deteriorate immediately?

My braces came out 8 months ago and a fixed retainer wire was glued to the back of my lower front 6 teeth. While eating an apple this morning, I noticed with my tongue that the adhesive on my left incisor had separated and the wire was wasted. My appointment is next Tuesday. I am very afraid whether my tooth will return to its normal state within 4-5 days.

Don't panic right away, but don't delay your appointment either. If your doctor gave you a clear protective night plate, start wearing it during the day by Tuesday! Plaque keeps teeth stable.

If the retainer adhesive leaves the tooth, there is a risk of relapse (tendency to return to its old position) in that tooth. A dramatic deterioration is not expected within 4-5 days, but micron-level shifts may occur. If you have an additional Essix (transparent reinforcement plate), use it regularly until Tuesday and be careful not to push that tooth with your tongue.

Mine was broken too, I noticed it after a week and went away. The doctor gently put it in place and glued it back with filling material, there was no deterioration, don't worry.
